Let’s put an end to boxed mashed potatoes. They may get the job done for the night, but why not spoil your family with the deliciousness of homemade mashed potatoes. I mean they just taste better in everyway. Creamy, buttery, garlic mashed potatoes. Just typing that made my stomach growl. My easy recipe is going to take the stress of homemade potatoes away! So lets get to it ....

Starchy potatoes like Yukon Gold or Russet are best for mashed potatoes!

The more butter the better!

To reheat your potatoes, just add a splash of cream and butter.

Get a good potato masher! It makes all the difference!

Be careful not to over mash the potatoes so that they don‘t become gummy.

Creamy Homemade Mashed Potatoes

  • 3lbs russet or yukon gold potatoes

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 1 stick of butter

  • 4 garlic cloves minced or whole

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Parsley for garnish (optional)

  1. Peel potatoes and cut into fourths.

  2. Add them to a cold pot of water. Then bring to a boil. (You can sub chicken broth for water if you‘d like)

  3. While the potatoes are boiling, add the cream, butter and garlic to a small saucepan over low heat. Gradually letting it warm up.

  4. Drain the potatoes and leave them in the pot.

  5. Slowly pour the cream mixture into the potatoes (a little bit at a time)

  6. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher until they are nice and smooth. (No lumps)

  7. Slowly whisk in more of the cream mixture until a creamy smooth consistency is formed. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  8. Drizzle with extra melted butter and sprinkle with parsley!

  9. Enjoy!

Serve with my delicious Chicken Meatballs!
