This delicious, savory baked smothered chicken is perfect for an easy weeknight dinner!
Baked Smothered Chicken
This chicken recipe is so easy and full of flavor! I always get so many compliments on my baked chicken so I just had to share the recipe with you! There’s nothing like that Sunday dinner taste on a Tuesday! Pair it with my homemade yellow rice recipe, mashed potatoes or even a serving of dinner rolls to soak up all that delicious gravy! Trophy Mom Tips
You can use any chicken parts you have on hand! (ex: chicken thighs)
You can create chicken broth using 1 chicken bouillon cube boiled into 2 cups water.
You can use any array of colored peppers.
Cornstarch is used to thicken your gravy. If your gravy ends up too thick, dont panic! Just pour in a little more chicken broth.
Gravy thickens as it sits, so just add little water or broth to bring it back to life!
Paprika and Butter in this recipe are used to give chicken that beautiful brown color!
For Crispier chicken, you can place under broiler for 3-4 mins (Watch it carefully!)
Baked Smothered Chicken Recipe
Pack of Chicken Wings
1-1/2 cups of Chicken Broth
1/2 green pepper
1/2 red pepper
1 tbsp seasoned salt
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp pepper
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp paprika
1/4 cup water + 3 tbsp cornstarch
Butter for color (optional)
Preheat oven to 350.
Chop up all veggies and set aside.
Add veggies to baking dish then add Chicken
Pour in Chicken broth.
Bake for 30 mins uncovered.
While chicken is baking, mix 1/4 cup water with 3 tbsp cornstarch to create a slurry.
After 30 mins, remove chicken from dish and set aside
Mix cornstarch slurry into broth until well combined.
Add chicken back to dish.
For added flavor and color, top each wing with a little butter.
Bake chicken for addt’l 15-20 mins Uncovered.
